Subiaco made it three wins from three starts in the WAFL 2018 Season as they recorded an emphatic 96 point win over Swan Districts on the back of an 18 goal to one domination after the quarter time break.

Hayden Kennedy kicked a first ever goal on a career day, Lachlan Delahunty was one hit-out shy of a quadruple double and Brad Stevenson and Ben Sokol each kicked four goals in the big win.

These are some of the other numbers from Subiaco’s third win of 2018.

INSIDE 50’s – Only two Subiaco players failed to register an Inside 50 entry in Round Three as Subiaco had 59 inside 50’s from 20 different players. Zac Clarke and Kaidyn Fullgrabe were the only two not to drive the ball inside 50 on Saturday..

MINUTES – Ben Sokol kicked three goals in just six minutes and 13 seconds of action early in the last quarter. Even more impressive, Zac Clarke also kicked a goal during this run, meaning Subiaco scored four goals in just six minutes of game time to blow open the last quarter.

CATEGORIES – Lachlan Delahunty recorded statistics in all nine of the regularly tracked statistics by the WAFL. On a stat stuffing day, Delahunty finished with 27 possessions, 17 kicks, 10 handballs, 11 marks, nine hitouts, eight forward 50 entries, two behinds, one goal and one tackle.

TACKLES – Greg Clark led Subiaco on Saturday with 10 tackles in a strong willed display. Clark proved in last year’s WAFL Reserves Grand Final that he could be a big time tackle threat when he had 16. This was the first time that Clark had recorded 10 tackles in a league game however.

POSSESSIONS – It was a true career day for Hayden Kennedy as he recorded his highest game for possessions with 29. He also had his most ever kicks with 20, most ever inside 50 entries with five and most ever goals, but more on that one later.

MARKS – Ben Sokol has 31 marks for the season to lead the entire WAFL competition for marks. Sokol recorded a career high 12 marks in the Round Three win.

MARGIN – Subiaco outscored Swans by 107 points over the last three quarters of Saturday’s game as they amassed a score of 18.11 to 1.6 after quarter time. The last time Subiaco outscored an opponent by over 100 points in the last three quarters of a match was back in Round 18 of 2015.

POSSESSIONS – Subiaco finished with 423 possessions for the game, the first time that the Lions had passed 400 possessions since Round Four of 2017. Subiaco out possessed their Swans opponents by 143 possessions.

POINTS FOR – Subiaco’s dominant offensive start to the season has been the Lions best start to a season since 1986 and second best start through three rounds ever. Back in 1986 the Lions had scored 482 points through the opening three rounds at an average of 160, with this year’s three game tally at 448, a per game average of 149.

DAYS – Some 1484 days after his debut WAFL league game, Hayden Kennedy has his first WAFL league goal. It took Kennedy to game number 39, but with a first quarter goal, Kennedy now adds his name to the list of players who have scored a goal at WAFL league level.
