SFC upgrade gym
Monday, 21 November 2016
The Lions have revamped their gym at Medibank Stadium and re-structured the space for the first time since 2004.
The process, which took over two weeks, involved re-furnishing the gym area with suitable materials, purchasing new equipment and opening up the layout to make it more versatile.
"We’ve upgraded the flooring in the gym area and we’re also looking at changing to artificial turf in the warm up area," said Football Manager Daniel Vidovich.
"We’ve purchased a new functional trainer and a leg extension and curl machine for the players weight programs as well. The new arrivals help our program and the goals that we hope to achieve in 2017."
A brand new gym will come with a brand new attitude for the players who are entering pre-season without the premiers tag for the first time since 2014.
Strength and conditioning specialist Dan Hiscock is hoping the re-vamped environment and equipment will add to the Lions preparation in 2017.
"The goal was to make better use of the facility. It’s the same space but we’ve re-organised the layout to facilitate our training requirements more efficiently which allows us to run bigger numbers through,
"A couple of the old pieces of equipment were outdated so it was a good time to bring in some new machines. Both machines will benefit in rehabbing and strengthening and adds extra resources that me and head trainer Craig King have to pool from,
"The new surfacing is a big upgrade for a few reasons. The rubber layer in the gym protects our equipment and brings the weights area up to an elite athletic standard. The artificial turf area in the gym allows us to do speed and power training as well as pre-game warm-ups." said Hiscock
The Subiaco Football Club are also seeking sponsors for the newly renovated space with various sponsorship and signage opportunities available. Businesses can get in contact with the club on 9208 9999 or
