The Subiaco Football Club is excited to announce Beau Wardman as the Colts coach for 2017 and beyond.
Wardman comes to the club with extensive experience and looks forward to the task ahead.
“It’s a real opportunity to grow the development side of the club,” said Wardman
“Subiaco are obviously a very successful club in the WAFL competition and I think we can make some dramatic improvements on the individual development plans of the players.”
Wardman was the colts coach for Peel from 2015-2016 and helped young guns such as Noah Jura and Josh Schoenfeld achieve their full potential. The aspirational coach hopes to achieve similar results at Subiaco.
“The success at Peel was mainly built around relationships, building a connection with the players and a strong buy-in from the staff.” Said Wardman
“Developing that rapport is critical for the success of the players and their ability to succeed in the program.”
A few key areas will be addressed over the pre-season by new coach Wardman including chemistry, skills and fitness.
“I think it’s just about developing some unity and trust within the squad. There will be also be an emphasis on making sure the skills are at the level that they need to be; as well as fitness over the pre-season.” Added Wardman
Wardman ticked all the boxes for SFC selection board and CEO Peter Capes is excited with the appointment.
“He was our number one recommendation from the selection committee so we’re excited to have him,” said Capes
“Beau has strong support within the football industry and is a highly credentialed development coach and we’re looking forward to working with him to rapidly improve our development program.”
