PREVIEW: Round 22 at Peel
- Friday, 19 August 2016
The Lions are two games clear of South Fremantle and can mathematically rule out any chance of the Bulldogs catching them with a victory.
The reigning premiers Subi have won four games in a row and will take a lot of momentum with a Round 22 win. Despite experiencing a mid-season lull the back-to-back champions have steadied and displayed their dominance with four wins in a row.
The Lions won’t be taking the foot off the pedal however with a full strength side expected to take on the Thunder. Subiaco will focus on securing a bye in the first week of the finals to rest and recover their troops.
The Mandurah based Thunder had a bye last week but were impressive against East Perth in Round 20. Peel played 10 Fremantle listed players in a 36-point win over the Royals. Experienced Dockers Matt De Boer, Tendai Mzungu and Nic Suban were paramount.

Subiaco’s backline features a nice balance of experience and fresh talent and they could exploit Peel with their broad range of talent. Peel’s leading goal-kickers are small forwards Gerald Ugle and Blair Bell and they could draw Chris Bryan, Joel Latham or Greg Broughton. Dockers big men Jack Hannath and Matt Taberner could also be in the mix and Subiaco defenders Declan Jackson, Aaron Heal and Jordan Lockyer have previously proven effective against them in years past.
