Subi hold Goldfields Combine
Tuesday, 05 April 2016
The Subiaco Football club managed a road-trip last weekend, which involved Combine Testing in the country zone of Goldfields.
Player Development Officer Neil Arnold and CEO Peter Capes were in person to contribute to the activities and strengthen the relationship between the two parties.
“It was great to get out to our Goldfields country zone and have a chat with everyone involved in the football community there,
It correlated nicely with the Goldfields Football League season launch.” said PDO Neil Arnold.
19 Goldfields players aged between 16-24 were in participation at the Goldfields Oasis Sporting Centre and were put through their paces by SFC and GFL football staff.
All players took part in the 20m sprint, agility test, standing broad jump, beep test, Nathan Buckley kicking test and the clean hands test.
“The players involved were fantastic and contributed with professionalism. SFC Goldfields Talent Coach Graeme Borchet had conducted training sessions to prepare the group and they were really impressive,
It also gave us a great chance to monitor the progress of these country players and their fitness levels if they decide to come and play in Perth.” added Arnold
The Subiaco Football club would like to thank the GFL and everyone involved in another successful cross-state initiative.
“We hope these combines are an on going project because it’s great for both parties. We're hoping to do something similar in our Esperance zone and we’re already in collaboration to make that happen,
17 out of 49 colts are from our country zones and 30 out of 110 from our senior group. That’s a massive percentage from the Goldfields and Esperance areas and we appreciate their on-going contributions.
SFC would also like to thank Rhonda Worthington, Brendan Simpson, Brad Edwards, Graeme Borchet and Mr Tedge who gave up their Sunday afternoon to help us run the tests and record the data.
