Greg Broughton’s return to the Subiaco Football Club adds another weapon to the arsenal.
The rebounding defender decided to return to Subiaco following his AFL retirement; and re-joins long time team-mate Kyal Horsley.
“I’ve played with Greg throughout a few moments of my life, said Horsley
“We were both around during the Glory Years and won WAFL Premierships in 2007-8. Then he got drafted to Fremantle and in a twist of fate we both ended up at Gold Coast together in 2011.”
Subiaco skipper Horsley was ecstatic to hear of Broughton’s return and had glowing words for his on-field ability.
“GB is a bit of a freak on the footy field. I don’t think i’ve ever seen him lose a one-on-one and he has a real competitiveness to him.
“He’s a hard guy to play against because he can hurt you in so many ways,
“He’s got a silky ability on the ball and is a fantastic contested mark for a smaller defender. And as far as rebounding defenders go he’s one of the best I’ve played with.” said Horsley
Broughton adds to a back-line already brimming with talent and the combination with Wayde Twomey could make the Lions dangerous in 2016.
“Broughton and Wayde Twomey are such strong assets to have in your side, said Horsley
“They can both hurt the opposition with their disposal out of the back-line so to have them together is incredible,
“It will be interesting to see how they work together, they both have great football minds and it could be pretty lethal having those two peeling off the back-line.” added Horsley
Subiaco will play Swan Districts in the final pre-season game of 2016 this Saturday, Steel Blue Oval 2:15
