SFC Intra Club #1
- Saturday, 13 February 2016
Subiaco held their first intra club game yesterday as the WAFL season nears closer.
There were some interesting match-ups in the Subi hit-out as Jarrad Schofield pitted similar skilled players against each other.
New recruit Hayden Yarran played forward on defender Tommy Smith who has successfully returned from injury. Yarran has the skill-set to excel in Subiaco’s game plan and displayed great decision making in the intra-club game. Tommy Smith looks in great shape and has the ability to pinch hit in the midfield, wing and back-line.
KYAL HORSLEY v SCOTT HANCOCK
Subiaco recruited exciting prospect Liam Ryan from the GNFL and we got a first hand look of the young players ability. James Hughes is a club favourite and matched up against the high-flying forward in an intriguing battle.
Big man Dave Madut lined up against emerging ruck Josh Chapman at the first bounce-down and the two youngsters went at it. Madut is 100% and continues to work on his ability as a follower. Josh Chapman has great size and emerged from our Colts system last year.
Two time Premiership player Lachlan Delahunty has had a setback free pre-season and will be a crucial part of the Lions forward line in 2016. 2014 State 18’s player Adam Creeper matched up on Delahunty as a key defender.
We got our first glimpses of Greg Broughton in a game format and the ex-Gold Coast Sun displayed fantastic awareness alongside Wayde Twomey in the back-line. James Garcia is a intelligent small forward and worked hard against Broughton. Look for Garcia to earn a spot in the starting 22 come Round One.
