Lions Buzz: Round 14

Subi suffered their second loss of the season on the weekend converting a meagre 5-15 in front of goal.

The Lions had all the play against the Falcons in the last quarter but the red and blue defended relentlessly to hold on to a ten point victory at HBF Arena.

The loss comes as a timely wake up call for the table-topping Lions who hold a two game lead in first position heading into the business end of the season.

Leigh Kitchin was outstanding despite the defeat with 35 touches, five inside 50’s and five marks. Kitchin was named best on ground and received his second QBE Man Of The Match for the year.

Premiership forward Matt Boland made his return to the side and saw plenty of action at full forward. Boland slotted a goal with his first kick of the game and provided a big target for the Lions midfield.

Subiaco's defence continues to be the best unit in the league, restricting a big scoring West Perth unit to 8.7 55 in perfect conditions. Michael Wood’s transition to the back-line looks to be a smart move.

From the international festival, to media criticism and another big rivalry game; this week was full of activity for the Buzz.

Chris Pike |  A disgrace what Subiaco is doing this season. Buying team of mercenaries for flag, players just pawns. No other club would/could do it #WAFL

Ben Cameron@subiacolions do what they need to within the rules. Other clubs should try it. Don't hate the player, hate the game. @WAFLOfficial
