Lions Buzz: Round Eleven
- Monday, 08 June 2015
Subi are two games clear with a record of 8-1 at the half way mark after over-powering East Fremantle by 48 points on Saturday at Medibank Stadium.
Story of the day came from ex-Docker Sam Menegola who worked hard to fight through injury; earning his Lions debut against the Sharks. Mena’s was all class in his first outing with 35 touches and two goals in a best on ground performance.
Brett Robinson has also become a very valuable player for the Lions with 34 touches, two goals and boundless energy setting the tone for the Subi midfield.
It was a difficult day for the goal-kickers with Chris Deluca and Shane Yarran joining the midfielders with two goals each. Despite a convincing win the Lions will focus on becoming more efficient when entering the forward 50 in the future.
The Lions defence endured an onslaught from East Fremantle in the second quarter and put on their trademark second half press to shut the Sharks out of the game. Young defender Aaron Heal was a standout in the Subi back six and was named amongst the best players by coach Jarrad Schofield.
Austin Robertson Jr was inducted into the AFL HOF, Subi ran Ladies day and the Lions confirmed their position as the league front-runners.
