Lions Buzz: Round One

The Lions had a strong opening day showing with a win over Claremont in front of a bustling crowd on Saturday afternoon.

Subiaco utilised the opener to unviel their 2014 premiership flag with the help of former media man Ben Cameron who now works for 6PR radio.

Over a thousand then watched as Subiaco edged away from the Tigers to record a dominant 45-point win and there was specifically buzz around Shane Yarran’s second quarter rampage.

@miller_dj Watching Shane Yarran I can't help but think he should have been drafted to an AFL club. Got the skills #WAFOOTY

@bencameron23 Shane Yarran is a star. Didn't look out of place in the Indigenous All-Stars game. Has kicked 3 goals in 5 minutes to turn #SUBCLA

@mickleaver Great first up win and great day @subiacolions Great Introduction to #WAFooty@WAFootball

The Subiaco Football and QBE also had record numbers voting in the QBE Man of the Match competition with Ben Hopkins winning a signed Subiaco Lions replica jersey for correctly selecting Shane Yarran.

The QBE Man of the Match will be available every week this year with every entrant qualifying for the ultimate Lions game day experience at the end of the year.
