The Lions welcome another big game player with Brett Robinson re-joining the WAFL ranks for Subiaco.
Robinson played with Wayde Twomey in the memorable 2010 WAFL Grand Final victory at Swan Districts and joins his former teammate at the Lions.
Originally from Weribee, Victoria Robinson made the move to Western Australia with Twomey to play for the Swans in 2008.
After 82 games and a year of country football Robinson returns to the WAFL and looks forward to the challenge that the Lions have provided.
“I played with Swan Districts from 2008 to 2013 and had a year off to play country footy down South,
“I’m really excited to be at the Lions now, I wanted a challenge and it encouraged me to come to a successful club and try and earn a spot. I feel really fresh from having a year down South and I’m excited to play some WAFL football again.” Said Robinson
Robinson stated that a couple of friendly faces including former team-mate Twomey made the decision to join the Lions easy.
"I’m good mates with Wayde Twomey, I moved across from Melbourne with him and I lived with Brad Mcdonald in Tasmania so there are a few familiar faces at the club. Both of the guys had glowing reviews of the football club and said it’s a really proffessional well-drilled team so that drew me,
"I wanted to come to a club that would challenge me personally and I’m looking forward to working my way into the side. Hopefully I can string some good footy together and contribute to the team’s success, because that’s what it’s all about." said Robinson
Robinson had his first hit out for the reserves against South Fremantle and fit straight into a midfield/forward role where he hopes to demonstrate his ability in 2015.
"I like playing around the midfield and sneaking up for the occasional goal. Hopefully I can provide a role that the Lions need in 2015." added Robinson
