Meet The Recruits: Sam Menegola
- Thursday, 05 February 2015
Menegola was an exciting off-season addition for the Subiaco Lions; bringing a high level of professionalism after spending four seasons on AFL lists.
Originally picked up by Hawthorn with pick 44 in the 2011 Rookie Draft from East Fremantle, Menegola worked hard for his AFL debut despite a lack of opportunities and a knee injury in 2013.
Menegola opted for a change of scenery in 2015 joining a Subiaco Lions outfit fresh off a premiership.
Q&A with SAM MENEGOLA
Mena’s or Rabbit. I’ve got a few others but they’re the main ones.
Why do you love football?
I’ve never really though about it like that, but I know every time I’ve got training I get really excited and especially when there’s games coming up.
Favourite moment in football so far?
What positions do you like playing the most?
I love playing in the midfield and on the ball and I don’t mind playing on the wing or a bit of half forward, but on the ball is definitely where I enjoy it the most.
First impression of the Subiaco Lions?
It’s a really well run club with a really strong culture amongst the group. There a good bunch of blokes and it’s been easy to slot in and get to know everybody. The coaches are knowledgeable and super professional which makes the club well resourced. Guys like Jackson Dennis (Strength and Conditioning) also reinforce the standard and professionalism as well.
What are your goals for 2015?
I would love to be a part of a premiership. It would be great to contribute to another Subiaco Lions premiership side; that’s the main goal. I can't wait to work week to week and contribute to the team.
