- Thursday, 20 November 2014
Subiaco have enjoyed a week of recognition after winning the club’s 12th premiership.
Administration and footballing staff were invited to West Australian parliament for a luncheon were they were greeted by the head of planning Jan Henrik Norberger.
The attendees were acknowledged for their efforts by Norberger following the Lions 16 point upset of the Royals in September's WAFL Grand FInal.
“I would like to acknowledge the Subiaco Football Club 2014 premiers who are in the Speaker’s gallery today, and welcome them here on behalf of the members for Carine and Kingsley.” J. Norberger

Along with the Lions visit to parliament house Jarrad Schofield was awarded Best Coach by the West Australian Football commission earlier in the week.
Schofield became the first Lion to win a premiership as a player and a coach separately and claims the successes are a team effort.
"Obviously it's good to get the recognition but it's all about the team success. Team success is what we coach and what we play for but. The support network that i've had this year from all my coaches has been amazing and they're a big part of achieving that award. I may get the individual accolade but recognition needs to go to the support staff and people at the club." said Shofield
Subiaco had an incredible turnaround in 2014 going from 8th on the ladder to a premiership in 12 months and Schofield believes various factors created the perfect storm for the Lions.
"We had a superb coaching staff with the additions of Steve Wasley, Nigel Hamilton and Wayne Orsi. They're all experienced coaches who drive for success. We also had another 12 months to develop the game plan and with that the players work ethic was outstanding. The playing group had an understanding of what we expected from them and once they got a taste of success it became infectious." added Schofield
Schofield and the Lions have hit the track for pre-season whilst the Subiaco Football Club look forward to a civic reception by the City Of Joondalup on the 4th of December for winning the 2014 premiership.
