Reserves roll on
- Sunday, 07 September 2014
Subiaco’s reserves have sent another bold statement to the rest of the league with a 56 point victory over West Perth.
Multiple players put there hands up for league selection in the business end of the season with Simon Moore (37 disposals) and Kyle Halligan (6 goals) leading the way for the thriving Lions.
Matthew Bogensperger was also dominant with 36 touches and eight inside 50’s in a follower role.
The Lions reserves were bolstered by the addition of Frank Stockley and Ryan Wade from last week’s league side who helped lift Subiaco to a chance at the Grand Final.
Young goal sneak Dylan Clarke was also influential with two goals.
The win puts Subi into a sudden death play-off against the winner of Claremont and West Perth after recording their thirteenth straight win.
Subiacos Ryan Wade gathered 29 disposals and goal against West Perth.
Subiaco’s reserves side had a range of talented defenders at their disposals against West Perth with Reece Blechynden leading a young defence around him. Declan Jackson; Dylan Elliott and Chris Bryan have been outstanding on the Lions defensive front in 2014. If the reserves can keep a similar defensive line on the park, they could be in line for a deep run.
MOORE WANTS MORE:
Simon Moore has elevated his game in 2014 to an elite level. Often the unfortunate inside midfielder to miss out on league selection Moore boldly knocked on the door for another crack after being dropped last week. Moore’s decision-making and toughness on the ball are valuable traits.
Subiaco stalwarts Robert Forrest and Scott Worthington continue to build in the lower grades waiting for an opportunity at the top. Forrest has returned brilliantly from an ACL reconstruction and Worthington has worked over fitness issues. Both have great ability as rebounding back men or inside midfielders.
