Three Colts honoured
- Thursday, 04 September 2014
Subiaco have three players in the colts team of the year with Ryan Vermeersch, Tim Edwards and Adam Creeper honoured at last night’s Jack Clarke medal.
The Subi young guns were prominent in the colts 2014 season and showed game-changing form throughout periods of the season.
Esperance 19-year-old Ryan Vermeersch was selected on the half-forward line after an outstanding season for Subiaco. Vermeersch received double the attention this year after establishing himself as a focal point of the Lions forward line.
Tim Edwards was in the middle of everything for Subiaco all year and was selected on the interchange for the colts team of the year. Edwards played 20 games to generate 344 disposals becoming one of the Lions most integral midfielders.
The third Lion, Adam Creeper, represented Western Australia at the State Nationals and was selected on the interchange for his athleticism and versatility. Creeper only played eight colts games in 2014 due to state duties and injury but showed glimpses of a potential star.
Subiaco also had a reasonable spread in the count for the Jack Clarke medal for the best and fairest in the colts competition.
Midfielder Max Walters led the way for the maroon and gold collecting 20 votes from his 14 games showing elements of pure class.
Rising youngster Greg Clark came second for the Lions on the tally with 19 votes as he continues to develop his game as a premier midfielder.
Albert Dean from Swan Districts claimed the Jack Clarke medal with 40 votes whilst South Fremantle’s Cameron Loersch was handed the leading goal-kicker award by Subiaco great Brad Smith after finishing with 55 goals on the season.
