Jackson Included

Young defender Declan Jackson is in line to make his WAFL debut in Saturday's top of the table blockbuster between Subiaco and East Perth after a string of promising performances in the reserves.

Jackson captained Subiaco’s colts last season and has made a seamless transition to senior football holding down the fullback position for Subiaco’s reserves.

The 19-year-old has played 16 reserves games this year and more often than not he’s tasked with blanketing the opposition’s key forward.

The Collie Football Club product has been waiting in the wings behind champion Darren Rumble and is shaping as a suitable replacement when the time is right for the four time premiership fullback to hang up the boots.

Jackson stands 189 cm tall, one centimeter taller than Rumble.

The pair both weigh-in at 94 kilograms.

Jackson’s inclusion would bolster Subiaco’s big man department, an area of concern against East Perth.

Abe Davey has been added to the squad as another defensive option.

The Deluca brothers look set to return to Subiaco’s lineup.

Chris missed last week’s win over South Fremantle due to general soreness while Josh performed well with three goals in the Lions' reserves after overcoming an ankle injury that ruled him out of State 18’s action earlier this season.

GAME CHANGERS:

Royals On a Roll

Saturday marks the second meeting between Medibank Stadium’s co-tenants for season 2014.

The Lions beat the Royals by 24 points back in round 5 but since then East Perth haven’t faltered and tomorrow they’ll aim for their 11th straight victory.

MuddyBank Stadium

After Perth’s recent wet weather there was speculation that the top two clash would have to be relocated due to the poor condition of the playing surface.

Neither side trained on Leederville Oval this week and as a result the ground has bounced back to be in reasonable condition.

On Thursday a Verti Drainer spent 7 hours preparing the playing surface and both clubs are confident that it won’t be an issue on Saturday.

AFL Duty

Jamie Bennell, Jamie Cripps, Josh Hill will all come out of the East Perth side that beat West Perth last week, all three are selected in West Coast’s squad that flew to Adelaide on Thursday.

The Eagles play the Crows on Saturday.

Ruckman Scott Lycett also made the trip while Ash Smith and Simon Tunbridge will line up for the Royals after being dropped from West Coast.

Sharrod Welingham also comes out of East Perth's line up after undergoing season ending surgery.
