Subiaco heads to Kal

The Subiaco Football Club will travel to Kalgoorlie to take on the Perth Demons in the Country Sports Enrichment Scheme (CSES) game

For over 15 years the State Government has supported and financed the playing of WAFL games in country areas through the Country Sports Enrichment Scheme (CSES) Program; with the goal being to take WAFL games to country areas and provide rural towns with the opportunity to witness state level sport in a full competition environment.

The funding of this program aims to not only provide a football spectacle but also as a vehicle to deliver football knowledge to local people involved in the great game.

As a part of the WAFL’s commitment to the country regions and to recognise the importance of education for sporting officials in country centres, a number of educational seminars will be conducted.

These seminars include a match day analysis for umpires along with an umpiring course run by Garry O’Donnell and Anthony Kerr for Goldfields officials.

There will also a trainers seminar and level one coaching course held by Jarrad Schofield and his assistants to hand on advice to coaches hailing from the Goldfields area.

Subiaco will also be hosting an Auskick session for younger players with Lions players Rob Forrest, Hayden Kennedy, Scott Worthington and Jason Bristow running the session.

The club and the Goldfields Football League have been diligently planning the weekender with months of hard work providing an action packed schedule.

Corporate sponsorship was established with Northern Star Resources and Kalgoorlie Freight Lines jumping on as a major sponsor along with Smartline Mortgage Advisors, Kalgoorlie Conveyors and Kalgoorlie Metro Property Group as support sponsors.

In addition to Subi coming to Kalgoorlie, All WAFL clubs have partnered with Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia during Men’s Health Week, to have a dedicated round of WAFL games being called the Know your Score Round. Know your Score is encouraging men to be proactive about their health and know the general ‘score’ of their health

Know your score is asking men to talk to their doctor about determining their individual risk of developing prostate cancer along with other high-risk diseases. Help raise the profile of prostate cancer and improve the outcomes for men dealing with this disease. Please support the tin shakers from Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia that you will see around the grounds today. For further information or to donate visit

Kalgoorlie local teams the Saints and Railways will open proceedings on the 14th of June at 9:45 followed by the Inter Regional Challenge Goldfields Football League against the Esperance Districts Football Association at 11:45.

Subiaco’s Colts and Reserves will both play on Sunday the 15th of June with the young guns kicking off at 9:00 and the reserves at 11:25 at Medibank Stadium.
