Colts impress AFL scouts

The Subiaco Colts have gotten back to their winning ways with a hard-fought 35-point win over Perth.

AFL scouts were in attendance for the Colts super round and Subiaco’s youngsters would have surely impressed.

Tough midfielder Connor Wilkinson had a best on ground performance with 16 possessions and 10 tackles.

Christopher Bryan and Greg Clark were also influential in the midfield with 43 touches between them.

Justin Woodley kicked two goals whilst Kalgoorlie prospect Ryan Borchet got his first goal in the maroon and gold.

Subiaco executed their high intensity game plan when it mattered this week with their stingy defence holding Perth to their second lowest score of the year.

Defenders Corey Buscall and Brennan Pearce fought hard all day to keep the Demons forwards at bay.

GAME CHANGERS

JAK ATTACK:
Young tall Jak Cary has continued his growth as a footballer with his best performance as a Lions against Perth. At 191 centimetres and smart football brain, Cary could be a very handy player for Steve Armstrong in 2014.

STATE PLAYERS RETURN:
Subiaco enjoyed the return of their State 18’s players after their depth was tested in a loss against Swan Districts last week. Greg Clarke’s tenacity around contests and Aaron Summers run on the wings were dearly missed.

FORWARD FINDINGS:
In a game where key forwards Ryan Vermeersch and Rhys McAlister only managed two goals between them, Subiaco had to find alternate ways to hit the scoreboard. Justin Woodley was dangerous again in the forward line with two and Aaron Summers continues to open up sides with his run, kicking two goals.

WALTERS RESTED:
Star midfielder Max Walters had a quiet game to his standards only gathering a handful of touches in a limited minutes game. Walters kicked a brilliant goal in the third quarter before being rested in the last.
