Swans end Colts streak

The Subiaco Colts have lost their first game in a month succumbing to the Swan Districts by 22 points

An inexperienced Lions side showed glimpses of brilliance in the defeat but lacked the intensity to stick with the Swans over four quarters.

The Lions had eight changes from the side featured in the Round Five win over East Perth with the State 18's absorbing key players Aaron Summers, Greg Clark, Adam Creeper and Max Walters.

The loss wasn't without positives however with forward Rhys McAlister returning to the side after a hamstring injury left him sidelined for four weeks.

The enigmatic forward made a successful return kicking three goals alongside tall forward Ryan Vermeersch who gathered 23 disposals and kicked three goals.

Christopher Bryan was also brilliant in the game collecting 20 disposals as he continues to flourish as a midfielder in the Subiaco system

Coach Steven Armstrong would be pleased with his sides’ ability to fight despite their inexperience; with a seven goal second term displaying what can be done if the players execute Subiaco football.

GAME CHANGERS:

HONEST ABE:
We got a look of what young prospect Abe Kennedy was capable of today in his best performance as a Subiaco Colt. Kennedy was instrumental in the midfield showing poise and lightning pace to have a major impact throughout portions of the game. The Coolbinia prospect is definitely one to watch in 2014.

YOUNG LIONS
The Lions went into the side with eight changes from their round five outfit with four debutants and four second game players.  Brad Waters, brother of league's Rhys, impressed on debut with 16 touches and a goal. Other debutants included Rhys Holdman, Branden Quinn, Nathan Alder  and Josh Chapman.

CENTRE CLEARANCES:
The Lions were outdone in the midfield with the Swans dominating the centre clearances for a majority of the game. Despite the best efforts of interior midfielders Tim Edwards (20 disposals) and Connor Wilkinson (20 disposals) the Black Ducks tore the Lions up in crucial moments of the game to assert their lead.
