Colts Preview: RD 4 Peel Thunder

The WAFL Colts will look to get three consecutive wins this week as they take on Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Coach Steve Armstrong has a deep squad of talented youngsters who are starting to gel; which was especially evident in the last quarter against Claremont last week.

Four goals down and half-way through the last quarter, Army’s Colts turned the game on it’s head to kick five straight and run out seven point winners.

This is the first time in four seasons that a Subiaco Colts side has beaten Claremont.

Peel Thunder stand in the way of Subi’s youngsters this week and although the Mandurah based side is winless, they are tough to beat.

GAME CHANGERS:

CREEPING UP SLOWLY:
Subiaco vice-captain is a crucial part of the Lions ability to win. Has proven to be an extremely versatile player for Steven Armstrong and could prove to be the difference against Peel. Creeper can play in the ruck, as a tall forward or at full-back.

CENTRE CLEARANCES:
Peel have a group of young talented midfielders that Subiaco will have to negate to get the upper hand. Brendan Tingey, Brett Millward and Ben Hancock are the Thunder’s most prominent players around the ball and Subi will look to guys like Josh Hatch , Chris Bryan and Greg Clark to keep them in check.

FORWARD PRESSURE:
Subiaco have some potent forwards in the likes of Ryan Vermeersch and Cody Grace but the two have yet to dominate like they were in 2013. If one of these tall athletic goal-kickers can dominate the game then the momentum will swing wildly in Subiaco’s favour.
