Lions, Sharks head to Geraldton

The Lions will board a flight to Geraldton tomorrow morning ahead of the first of two regional fixtures this season.

The Round two clash will be played at Country Builders Stadium, home of the Towns Football Club which is a part of East Fremantle’s country recruiting zone.

The Lions have played in Geraldton only once before, defeating the Sharks by 59 points in front of 3,420 spectators back in 1988.

East Fremantle last hosted a game in the country town in Round 21 of 2011 when they beat West Perth.

Both teams will be buoyed by perfect starts to 2014, The Lions defeated South Fremantle by 38 points while the Sharks stunned reigning premiers West Perth beating them by three points in their season opener last week.

GAME CHANGERS

Milestone Man

Lions defender Abe Davey will play his fiftieth WAFL game this week. The Esperance product is a favourite amongst his teammates for his selfless brand of footy.

“If you were going to build a football club from scratch, Abe would be the first guy picked.” – fellow teammate Scott Ward.

House ‘Mates’

As house mates, Lachlan Delahunty and East Fremantle’s Tim Bristow are used to battling it out for the TV remote but the two will have a little more on the line when they square off against each other in the ruck.

Roaring O’Brien

Last year’s Sandover medalist Rory O’Brien picked up right where he left off gathering 35 disposals and laying 5 tackles against the Falcons

O’Brien has been a thorn in Subiaco’s side in recent times amassing 106 possessions in his last three games against the Lions.
