2014 Player Auction

On Saturday March 15th at the 2014 Season Opening Dinner the player auction will be held. The players are grouped into 20 groups. The winning bidders will have the chance to get weekly dividend, which will be paid out for the best League and Reserves player for each round. 

Weekly winner - League & Reserves are decided on the best players selection in the West Australian following each game (normally Monday). Winning bidders will be contact on the Monday following the results being posted. Weekly prizes will be available for pick up from the front office.

GROUP 1

Jason Bristow –Jason has played 90 matches and will once again be a pivotal playing in the engine room this season. His ability to win the ball in congested stoppages is his strength and is a known player to attract best on ground performances.

Dave Madut -Dave played 5 league games in his debut season with the seniors after solid performances in the ruck in the reserves. After a solid preseason, he will play in the ruck and as a tall forward option this season.

Hayden Kennedy – Hayden is a former state 18’s player that can play through the midfield or as a small defender. He has great awareness in the backline and uses the ball well when coming out of defence. He has played league football this preseason so look for him to get opportunities at league level this season.


GROUP 2

Darren Rumble – Darren is the most capped player at the club with 192 matches. Darren will be looking to add to his games tally to approach the 200 club and will be found close to goals at the defenders end of the ground.

Nick Hay –Nick is the reigning 2013 Blakemore (Reserves F&B) Medallist. Nick is strong and fit and is more than likely to be running around in the forward line this season but has the ability to play back.

Matt Panizza – Matt is a medium/tall defender that played a handful of matches in the reserves last season. Recruited from the Southern Cross FC, Matt is keen to make Subiaco FC his new home.

Josh Deluca – is still eligible for colts football and has been included in the State 18’s initial intake of players. He is a small forward who gets front and square to contests. Will miss some of the season with national duties.


GROUP 3

Rhett Kerr – Rhett is a product of the Gibson FC. Has played 77 league games and can play forward or on the wing. Rhett is an elite distance runner that has returned refreshed and looking for another strong WAFL season.

Charlie Le Fanu – Played 9 league games in his first season of senior football in 2013. You can see Charlie’s explosive dash off half back or on the wing this season. Is a solid defender and should get opportunity in the back half this season.

Stuart Berryman – Recruited from the Claremont district as a colts player. Stuart is a defender who played 11 matches in the reserves in 2014. He runs in straight lines and reads the ball well off half back.

Jordan Webster -  He is a small forward that played 19 colts matches last season. He uses the ball well in the forward line and has the ability to finish off and kick goals.


GROUP 4

Chris Phelan – had an injury free 2013 season playing 19 matches and taking his games tally to 75 matches. Is a solid defender that will play through the midfield this season and showcase his ball winning ability.

Kyle Halligan – Kyle played 6 league games in his debut season at league level. Kyle is a smart forward that played some reserves football last season and doesn’t look out of place at league level.

Ray Daniels – Debuted for the Subiaco Football Club in season 2013 and played 16 games. Is an exciting forward and has the ability to kick multiple goals in a match and applies good pressure in the forward half.


GROUP 5

Dan Leishman – Dan is in his third season of senior football after playing 25 league matches in the last two seasons. Dan has good pace and you will see him play in the backline again this season. He also has some good Subiaco Pedigree with his dad playing senior football in the 1980’s for the club.

Shane Yarran – Shane played in the last reserves game in 2013. The excitement machine will play in the forward line this season and look for him to take mark of the year or goal of the year with his raw pace and ability to find the football in the forward line. You can’t miss him, just look for the lime green and orange boots near the goals.

Ian Garlett – Ian was recruited from the Whitfords JFC. An exciting young small forward that you will see kick goals this season. He has good pace and gets front and square to most contests.


GROUP 6

Abe Davey – Abe is a former colts and reserves fairest and best winner. The boy from Condingup has played 48 matches and is likely to line up through the backline and midfield this season. Can play as a ball winner and as a shut down player.

Myles Smythe– recruited from the goldfields also, Myles played 3 league matches last season before suffering a season ending injury.  After a strong preseason he has been rewarded with games in the practice matches and will most likely be used up forward this season.

Darcy Boyle – Another recruit from the Hamersley Carine AFC, Darcy is a key forward that can take a strong mark and is an accurate kick on goal. Look for him up forward this season and possibly having a run through the midfield as a ruck option.


GROUP 7

Lachlan Delahunty – Lachlan has been recruited from the Frankston FC. He is a 194cm utility that can play on the wing, in the forward line or as a tall midfielder. Selected in the VFL team of the year in 2012, Lachlan is looking forward to his opportunities with the lions in 2014.

William Fetherstonhaugh – in his first season of senior football ‘Bill’ played 6 league matches, and has been a regular in the league side this preseason. He is a solid defender with great athletic ability with clearly has the longest name in the club that is a nightmare when trying to make nametags.

Joel Ashman – Joel is a small midfielder who played 6 matches last season and is likely to play as a small forward and in the midfield this season. His tackling pressure is clearly a strong trait of his game.


GROUP 8

Matt Boland – Matt was recruited from the Parkdale FC in Victoria. Recommended from former greats, Sam Larkins and Mark Haynes, Matt is an exciting key forward that has a strong set of hands and accurate kick on goal.

Simon Moore –Simon played 14 matches last season after his prolific ball winning in the reserves. The former Blakemore Medal has had a good preseason and will play through the midfield and on the wing this season.

Joe Scafidi – Joe is in his first season of senior football after relocating from the Goldfields and playing last season in the colts. A strong bodied midfielder who will continue to develop of the course of the season. One to watch.

Liam Ellis – Liam is in his first season of senior football but has been sidelined for the majority of preseason. Look for him in the second half of the season.


GROUP 9

Kyal Horsley –The 2011 Outridge Medallist returns to the club after two seasons in the AFL playing for the Gold Coast Suns. The 26 yr old has played 91 league matches and represented the state on two occasions. Recovering from a knee reconstruction last season, Horsley will be looking to influence his dominance on the midfield this season.

Dylan Clarke – Dylan played 2 league matches in 2013, after relocating from Kalgoorlie the previous season. Many say Dylan is one of the purest kicks of the football and has an innate ability in front of goals

Luke Norriss –Luke had a solid season in the reserves last season and has come back over the summer break and had a solid preseason. Was given an opportunity in the league side preseason, look for Luke’s strong body off half back, in the midfield and on the wings.

Tim Garvey –Tim is in his first season of senior football and will play predominately as a forward option this season. He has a good body size ad will add to the mature bodies in the forward line.


GROUP 10

George Hampson – George’s fourth season at Subiaco. Recruited from Scarborough AFC. George was jointly awarded the Outridge Medal after a consistent 2013 season. Also a Blakemore medallist in 2011, Top 3 in the Outridge Medal in 2012. George is a utility player and is likely to play on the wing and through the midfield. He also played at either end of the field last season.

Luke Symonds –Luke has had an injury free preseason and has been in solid form playing in the reserves. Luke is a strong key defender that continues to improve at senior level and may get opportunities this season with the retirement of Aidan Parker.

Alliston Pickett – Buddy has played 17 games in 3 seasons and will be looking to cement his spot in the Subiaco League side. He come from very good pedigree and has freakish ability inside 50 and around goals.

Alex Sheed – relocated from Kalgoorlie but played amateur football last season. Is a key defender that is continuing to improve under the tutelage of Darren Rumble.


GROUP 11

Scott Worthington – Scott has played 64 WAFL games, since relocating from the Boulder Football Club as a colt’s footballer, 2013 was Scott’s breakout year and he looks to add to his 64 league games. At only 23 years old, Scott has developed into a leader on and off the field. Look for Scott’s run and precise left foot of half back.

Chris Deluca – Chris is a former state 18’s player that missed the back half of last season with a knee injury. After a strong preseason, Chris will continue to improve and will be mainly used as a small forward option, but is also developing his game as a midfielder. He has tremendous work ethic to keep the ball inside our forward 50.

Aaron Heal – Aaron is a key defender recruited from the Peel Football League. Will bolster our tall player stocks and should get opportunities at league level this season.


GROUP 12

Frank Stockley – Frank was recruited from the West Perth FC in the off season. The 197cm/ 105kg giant will boost the clubs ruck stocks this season and will look to add to his 25 games of WAFL football. Frank will also spend time in the forward line this season, so he may be amongst the goals.

Dylan Elliott – Dylan made his league debut in 2013, and played 19 reserves matches. Dylan is a medium defender that can play on tall or small players. He finished runner up in the Blakemore medal last season, 2 votes behind the winner.

Robbie Forrest – Is a 107 game veteran, and had a strong preseason until he rupture his ACL in the clubs first intraclub match. A huge blow personally and for the club in preparation for the 2014. Look for Rob to possibly play in the back end of the season.

Cody Grace –Cody is also eligible for colts and has been included in the state 18’s initial intake. Cody missed the second half of last season with a back injury, but after a preseason with the senior squad he will be looking to push his claims for selection in the seniors. He will miss some matches with state commitments.


GROUP 13

Clancy Wheeler – Recruited from Newtown Condingup, Clancy is in his 4th season at the club and has played 53 matches. He is a talent with the six stitcher and a piece of willow, but we prefer to see him lining up in the maroon and gold jumper in winter. He will play mainly back in 2014, but has the ability to play a variety of positions including ruck, centre half forward, ruck rover, wing to name a few.

Mathew Bogensperger – Another player from the Goldfields, Matt played 5 league matches last season. He has the versatility to play in the defensive half but has good pace and endurance that will see him get opportunities through the midfield. Look for his dash from the backline as a real asset of his game.

Andrew Vawser – Andrew graduated from colts last season where he played 18 matches. He is a small forward that will also play through the midfield.

James Hughes – James is a graduate of the colts program, but missed some football last season due to injury. After his first preseason, James is looking to cement his spot in the senior squad. Is a medium defender, that has no fear and runs in straight lines.


GROUP 14

Wayde Twomey – Wayde was recruited over the preseason from the Swan Districts Football Club. Wayde has played at the highest level for Carlton Football Club, a WAFL premiership with Swans and was awarded the Simpson Medal as best player afield in the WA state game last season. With his excellent leadership skills, look for Wayde directing traffic down back and his explosive run off half back.

James Garcia – James is the 2012 colts fairest and best winner. James played 4 games of league football in 2012 and suffered a long term injury in season 2013. After a solid preseason and extra time in the gym, James will look to add to his League games tally as a tall and small forward.

Tyson Keene – Tyson has returned after spending last season playing country football. Is a key defender that has suffered some injury troubles over preseason. Look for him in defence this season.


GROUP 15

Andrew McDougall – Former Perth Football Club, where he played 85 league games. He also spent time on the West Coast Eagles and Western Bulldogs list. He will play in the ruck and will be used as a tall forward throughout the course of the year.

Justin Joyce – Justin has returned to the lions after playing amateur football in season 2013. He has 12 league games to his name and after a solid preseason, he will look to cement his place in the league side. He is a prolific user of the ball with silky skills and will spend a lot of time through the midfield.

Brad McDonald – After playing 5 league matches last season in his debut year, he missed the second half of the season with a knee injury. Still recovering from his injury, we will see him play as a quick small defender who kicks the ball long when he returns to the league squad. Watch for his dash off the backline.


GROUP 16

Rhys Waters – Former state 18’s player has played 32 league matches and will be looking to build on his games tally this season. After completing a full preseason, Rhys is fitter and stronger to hold down a midfield position but can also be used as a dangerous forward.

Joel Latham – Joel joined the club from West Perth in the off season after playing 58 reserves matches. Looking for opportunities, he has played in the backline during intra club and preseason matches. An elite runner who has good decision making ability and skill execution in the back half.

Jordan Bestry – Jordan played 20 games for the colts last season and was fourth in their fairest and best voting.  A tall developing ruckman that is capable of damaging the opposition with his marking ability and finish close to goals in the forward line. One to watch in 2014.

Kobie Somers – recruited from theWhitfords JFC and secured under the grandfather/ grandson rule. Kobie played reserves football last season and plays mainly as a defender and has great Subiaco Football Club genes.


GROUP 17

Brad Stevenson – Leading Goal kicker in season 2014, Brad is able to play as a key forward or defender. He has a strong contested mark and reads the ball well across half back. We look forward to seeing Brad build on his 2013 season.

Reece Blechynden – Reece is a product of the Sorrento Duncraig Football Club. He made his league debut in season 2010 and has played 51 games. Known as a good ball winner and for his exceptional long kick. Blechynden will be one to watch after missing the 2013 season.

Ryan Wade –Ryan played 2 league games last season adding to his tally of 8 matches. Very athletic, some refer to him as a gymnast; look for Ryan to make a return in the midfield in the first part of the season.

Tim Whyte – Tim played 17 reserves matches last season and is likely to play predominately through the back line in season 2014. A solid defender that enjoys going forward to kick goals.


GROUP 18

Jarrod Kayler-Thomson – Jarrad played 108 matches for Perth and all 20 matches in 2013 with the lions. Jarrad has made an immediate impact at the club with his leadership qualities and his WAFL experience. Members and supporters can expect to see him running down the wing in the maroon and gold using his long kick to penetrate the forward line.

Tom Smith – Tom relocated from country Victoria last summer after  playing in the TAC cup.  Tom missed all of season 2014 with a back injury, but remained around the club and was awarded the best clubman for his services. Tom has great strength and ability to crash through packs as seen in the preseason matches this season.

Dane Stephen – Dane is a medium forward in his first season of senior football. He possesses good skills, is a good athlete and will get opportunities to play senior football this season.

Craig Hoskins – after two colts fairest and best medals, Craig had injury troubles last year in his third season of senior football. Craig is still battling to overcome his niggling injuries but the coaches are aware of his football ability and will be welcomed into the side when his body allows.


GROUP 19

Shaun Hildebrandt – Shaun returns to the club after deferring to Swan Districts for the past two seasons.  A former Outridge Medallist, State player and premiership player. Shaun will add to his 118 League matches for Subiaco and his 220 WAFL league games. Look for him on the outer wing racking up possessions.

Declan Jackson – Declan is a key position defender who captained the colts last season. He has the ability to play at CHB or FB and will be looking for opportunity given the departure of a key defender over the summer. He can play on either tall or small forwards and look for his disposal off half back.

Sean Bradley - A new player to the club this season. Sean is a key position forward that ws recruited from the Hamersley Carine AFC. Played in the reserves preseason and looks like a strong forward target who has the ability to take contested marks.


GROUP 20

Brett Mahoney –Reigning joint outridge medallist. Brett had an outstanding 2013 season averaging 20 disposals a match. Recruited from Mansfield, Brett has great speed and is a thumping kick. Look out for him in the midfield again this season.

Scott Ward – Wardy played 1 senior match last season to add to his tally of 3 after being elevated to the leadership group.  Consistent performer at Reserves level, Scott is a dedicated team man and holds the very prestigious title of fines master. Is a high possession getter and good user of the football.

Nathan Stewart – Nathan played 15 reserves matches last season. He is a small/ medium defender that possesses great pace and uses the ball well off half back. He finished in the top 6 of the Reserves F & B last season.

Christopher Wrigley -  He is a small forward that played 5 colts matches last season. Transferred from the Rockingham JFC he is a developing small forward.
