Four of Subiaco’s youngsters Max Walters, Joshua Deluca, Greg Clark and Cody Grace (pictured left to right) have been inducted on the first intake for the WA State Academy Program.
The 2013 Colts players will take part in a series of training and screening sessions over the next three months in a lead up to the 2014 season.
The WA State Talent Academy program is the pathway into the 2014 State 18’s squad; where Subiaco have been heavily represented over the years.
Last year Hayden Kennedy and Dom Sheed were featured in the best of the West; with athletic midfielder Sheed going onto win the Larke medal for best player at the meet.
A key position player with a well-developed frame. Grace can play as a leading forward but also has the athleticism to push up on the wings and act as a transitioning player. The Kalgoorlie kid has a great football brain and a fantastic overhead mark.
Super quick and elusive midfielder who has the ability to change games. Was a star in the 2013 season for the Subiaco Colts; eventually claiming the Taylor medal for the Lions Best and Fairest. Deluca is extremely hard to beat in open space which is dangerously paired with his excellent kick.
Kingsley sourced Max Walters played his first year of Colts football last year and hit the ground running. The tall athletic midfielder was a regular in the best’s column for the Lions until a round 13 quad injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. Walters has a huge aerobic capacity and another great Colts playmaker.
Another first year Colts footballer in 2013; the 16 year old Clarke stood out with a fantastic work ethic. The natural leader captained the West Australian State 16’s side at the Nationals which carried on into fantastic form for the Subiaco Colts side. Clarke is another tall athletic midfielder who was noted for his ferocious attack on the ball in 2013.
