Two sides which have shown great potential in 2013 will square up against each other in a knock out situation at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday.
Subiaco and Perth have shared bragging rights in 2013 with a win over each other; but the Lions team which went down by 48 points in Round 17 to the Demons will look significantly different this weekend.
The Lions are in stead to have 11 changes from the round 17 loss; with key inclusions like Captain Declan Jackson, Michael Wood, Rhys McAlister and Greg Clark set to bolster the stocks.
BIG BODIES, BIG CONTEST:
Head Coach Steve Armstrong noted mid-week that Perth boast a range of bigger bodies that have been well conditioned through the system. The Lions will have to lift their intensity to match the senior players of the Demons; who were influential in a ten game winning streak in the back half of the season.
When the Lions met the Demons in Round 17; Demons midfielder Brent Edmonds had a devastating impact with 30 disposals, seven inside 50’s and two goals. Subiaco will have to keep a close eye on the country midfielder who has been in superb form in the back half of the season.
DEFENCE WINS PREMIERSHIPS:
One of the most impressive parts of Subiaco’s season has been their gutsy defence. With and emphasis on closing speed and tackling the Lions have been able to completely negate opposition key forwards. Captain Declan Jackson has been outstanding for the Colts in 2013 and would love to add a finals victory to his achievements.
