Lions skip away from Thunder

A spirited performance by the Subiaco Lions has lifted them to a 45 point win over the Peel Thunder at Medibank Stadium.
George Hampson led the midfield with an impressive 29 disposal display as he continues his rich vein of form in August.
Captain Aidan Parker was a prominent goal-scorer with three goals straight; the defender enjoying his change of scenery to record five goals from his last three games.
Versatile midfielder Rhys Waters also chipped in with three goals to help the Lions steer away.
ATTACK ON THE FOOTBALL:
The Lions attack on the football was ferocious for a majority of the game to deny the Thunder space and time. Subi finished with ten holding the ball’s; a good indicator on the phenomenal pressure the home-side put on. Coach Jarrad Schofield will be pleased by the vigour shown by elevated players like Dylan Clark, Charlie Le Fanu, Michael Genovese and Joel Ashman who have shown great desire to attack the ball carrier.
SON OF A GUN:
Aliston Pickett thrived in a defensive forward role for the Lions. Pickett was a prominent catalyst for numerous Subiaco goals against Peel; with his desire to create a contest causing turnovers. The small forward also got on the board with two goals of his own to wrap up a performance which undoubtedly excited the Lions faithful.
PLAY OF THE DAY:
In the early stages of the second quarter; with the game still in the balance; 19 year old Charlie Le Fanu pulled of a brilliant chase and tackle in front of goals to drag down Peel’s Matt Taberner. The speedy youngster was awarded with a shot on goal; converting a crucial major for the home team.
