Subiaco CEO Peter Capes has labeled last Saturday’s 1973 premiership reunion a ‘huge success’.
The forty-year celebration saw a remarkable 18 out of the 20 premiership players return to the club.
“A lot of effort went into the organizing of the event and it really paid off. These guys are held in such high regard around this footy club, to have them all back and mixing with members, coaches and current players was a real buzz.” Capes said.
Each player was presented with a premiership medallions by WAFC chair Frank Cooper as these were not presented to players until the 1980’s.
Captain Coach Ross Smith presented youngster Michael Wood with his traditional five game league jacket, while AFL Chairman Mike Fitzpatrick, the star ruck man of his era, presented up-and-coming big man David Madut with his.
