Subiaco 4.9 (33) def by Claremont 13.9 (87)

Subiaco will take an air of confidence into this weekend’s clash with Claremont after the club notched up a rare treble of victories at Steel Blue Oval last Saturday.

The colts, reserves and senior sides were all on the winners list for the first time since round 15 last season.

Claremont’s barnstorming start to the 2013 continues to turn heads.  The Tigers are undefeated after 9 games, a start that easily surpasses their 2011 and 2012 premiership campaigns.

The Lions will regain the services of veteran fullback Darren Rumble who has served a one-week suspension and is set to lockhorns with his old rival Claremont spearhead Chad Jones.

Jones’ form has been patchy this season averaging only 1.6 goals per game, how ever Claremont’s forward line remains as potent as ever featuring the likes of Ian Richardson, Paul Medhurst and Anton Hamp all in form.

GAME CHANGERS

BACK & FORWARD
Like every other defence in the league Subiaco’s backline will have their collective hands full. Medhurst, Richardson and Hamp combined to kick 11 goals last week, outscoring the entire South Fremantle side.

Chris Phelan, Darren Rumble, Aidan Parker and Daniel Leishman will need to be on their game to curb Claremont’s class around goals.

HE’S GOT THE WOODS
Michael Wood hasn’t looked out of place in his first two games of senior football. The 18 year old has bagged four goals from 21 disposals and despite weighing only 65 kilograms, the youngster holds his own in the Lions’ forward line.

NOTHING TO LOSE
Expect Jarrad Schofield’s men to be firing on all cylinders come Sunday, The Lions haven’t won back to back games since round 5 last season and a win would be made all the more sweeter against a Tiger’s outfit coached by a former Subiaco captain in Marc Webb.
