Thank God it’s Good Friday Football
- Wednesday, 27 March 2013
The Subiaco Football Club will once again host Good Friday Football at Medibank Stadium.
The Lions pioneered the fixture back in 2011 and it’s fast becoming a WAFL tradition.
Two years ago public opinion was very much divided on whether scheduling a football match on the Easter holiday was in good taste but football fans voted with their feet and almost 5000 spectators made their way through the gates – the Lions highest attended home and away fixture for the 2011 season.
This year the Lions will again take on co-tenants and arch rivals East Perth in what the club hopes will become one of it’s flagship fixtures.
It should be noted that the SANFL has followed Subiaco’s lead and will this season hold a game on Good Friday for the second year running.
Subiaco understands and respects the religious significance of Good Friday and for this reason the league game will not start until 4.10pm and the second half will be played under lights.
The Subiaco Bar has acquired an "Occasional Liquor License" and will be open from 1pm on the day for the benefit of members and their guests.
