Sharks too strong
- Saturday, 02 March 2013
A youthful Lions Colts side has gone down to the East Fremantle Sharks today as Steve Armstrong blooded a string of young players.
The loss had it's positives however with the coaches getting a first hand view of how the more un-experienced footballers in the squad responded to game situations.
The Sharks first pick side led from the get go with a five goal first quarter to open up a four goal lead. But the second quarter saw Subi bite back, going goal for goal in a intensly competitive quarter.
Unfortunately the experience shon through for the Sharks in the second half , where they outran and outlasted the Lions to kick away with 13 goals to push the defecit past 100.
Despite the loss Coach Steve Armstrong was full of praise for the manner in which the boys stuck to the task and tried to adhere to team rules and structures. Max Walters was in everything, Alex Coe looked dangerous up forward, Cory Buscall put his body on the line in defence, Scott Rolley was resolute in defense and Ben Evans rucked manfully.
In a quirk of the pre-season fixturing the Colts will play their last pre-season game against Claremont on Wednesday, which will be their last hit-out before the season opener against West Perth on the 22nd of March.
