He's yet to pull on a maroon and gold jumper but Jarrod Kayler-Thomson has certainly made his presence felt inside the Lions den
Elected by his new teammates and coaches for a roll in the club’s 6 man leadership group - an on field unit tasked with guiding the team back into the top four following last years dismal 7th placed finish.
27-year-old Kayler-Thomson adds a wealth of experience having played 108 WAFL games for Perth plus making three AFL appearances for Hawthorn in 2010.
Kayler-Thomson getting the tick from his teammates came as no surprise to senior coach Jarrad Schofield.
“It highlights his level of interaction and his communication with all ages of the group. The way he approaches his footy and presents himself I think has really stood out and it was only highlighted down on the camp.”
The other new face voted into the leadership group is 24-year-old Kingsley product Scott Ward.
“The thing that I like about Wardy is that he’s not afraid to speak his opinion.”
“It’s reward for a guy that’s been around the footy club and really typifies what the Subiaco culture and brand is all about.” Schofield said.
Ward and Kayler-Thomson join last years skipper Aidan Parker, Ben Randall, Darren Rumble and Jason Bristow as the team’s official leaders.
The Lions will play an intra-club scratch match at Medibank Stadium this Saturday commencing at 9:00am.
