Colts on a roll

The Colts have won their eighth game of the season at the expense of the West Perth Falcons, running out 14.13 97 to 8.6 54 victors.

The Lions beat the Falcons for the second time this year with a strong performance through the midfield led by Le Fanu (25 disposals), Hill (18 disposals) Wilkinson (17 disposals) and Vawser (16 disposals)

Michael Wood and Mitch Harvie both kicked four goals apiece and Le Fanu was awarded best on ground with his 25 disposals and ten marks.

The win continues Subiaco’s impressive streak in which they’ve won four out of their last five games despite inconsistency with starting players. This week the Colts side were missing usual performers Dom Sheed (league) and Dylan Clarke (reserves) but filled the gaps effectively to get the solid 43 point win.

Influential Players:
Charles Le Fanu:
Without his usual partners in crime Dylan Clarke and Dom Sheed, Le Fanu was left an important role against the Falcons today. Le Fanu responded brilliantly with a best on ground 25 disposals in a following role.

Mitch Harvie :
Often used as a hard-nosed midfielder around the packs, Harvie enjoyed a foray up front in today’s game with a strong four goal performance. Could be an option in the forward line as the season goes on.

Michael Wood:
Wood continues his dominant form in the forward line adding his 18th goal in the last four games.
Has an incredible kicking action and will only get better with more experience.

A LOOK AT THE STATS:
Subiaco dominated across the board on the stat sheet, the most telling probably the difference between scoring chances. Subi had 27 compared to West Perth’s 14, the Lions would be disappointed they couldn’t convert a higher rate though kicking 14.13.

The Lions also dominated disposals with 33 more touches than their counterparts, with the main on ballers Le Fanu, Vawser, Halligan, Webster and Wilkinson running rings around a visibly younger side.

SIMPLY THE BESTRY:
Jordan Bestry dominated the ruck this week with 17 hit-outs as his tandem team with Bryce Denysiuk continues to flourish. The accuracy of his hit-outs were very impressive today setting up numerous centre break-aways.

DREAM TEAM:
Without Dream Team regulars Dom Sheed, Dylan Clarke and James Garcia, it was anybody’s guess to who was going to step up  to take the reins and claiming his first DT accolade of the year is Charles Le Fanu who scored a season high 105 following his 25 possession performance. Congrats Frenchy!
