We went into the game against the sharks with a very young side, we had 4 colts players with us this week and there were 8 from the colt’s side last year. We couldn’t question their attitude and their willingness to play within in the team rules, but were where up against a very good side in East Fremantle.
We got off to a good start this week, which has been an area off our game that we have struggled with this year. Big Seva Martin kicked two first quarter goals in the first quarter due to some good quick and direct ball movement from our backs and midfield.
The second quarter was played a lot between to two 50m arcs, we were turning the ball over to much across our centre half forward area due to poor skills and good pressure from the sharks, who rebounded the ball well and hurt us a couple of times on the turnover the margin could have been greater but the good work from our backs kept us in the game at half time, lead by Daniel Tincknell and Morgan Prott.
The second half was very disappointing in that we let the sharks run all over us. Our skill level and decision making was poor and East Fremantle worked a lot harder to the contest and outnumbered us. There were a lot off negatives to from our game but the positives we took out off the weekends game was that our younger players are getting more game time and they learnt a lot about their strengths and weakness when playing against a good side.
Our better players for the game were Daniel Tincknell, Morgan Prott, Scott Douglas, and Tim Viney.
Thanks again for your support and hope to see you all when we take on Peel Thunder this weekend.
