Pre Season Report

E-mail Print PDF

Firstly I’d like to wish all members a happy  new year,we are now 3 weeks into our January programme and the coaching and fitness staff are very happy with the progress so far.Adam Campbell is well under way and fitting in very well with group while Ben Heffernan-Roper,Andrew Scott and Luke Stanford who are our 3 other eastern state recruits are training very well and looking forward to our first hit out.

We are pleased to say that Phil Read and Chad Fletcher will both play on next season which is fantastic for the team in particular the younger players who can learn so much from them.

Ryan Priggs who is our new strength and conditioning coach has seen significant improvement in the first 2 months and believes the group has enormous scope for improvement as the season gets closer

.Alot of our training pre Christmas was down at City Beach oval which was terrific as the players enjoyed a refreshing swim after most sessions.Along with new players we have some new faces on our coaching panel aswell.Ryan Coutts will assist Josh Wooden in the reserves as will Nigel Wilson who will also assist with the league, both Ryan and Nigel have a lot of coaching experience at many levels of the game.Jason Heatley is back at the club and will coach our forwards and he is having a great impact already and a lot of players are looking forward to working with him.Former ruckman Dave Lucas will assist with our midfield and help develop our ruck stocks also.

We will begin scratch matches soon at training as we are still looking at some of our younger players who have stepped from colts last year to see where they are at,unfortunately 60 doesn’t go into 44 and some players will miss out but we finding it harder as the players are really putting in.We look forward to our first official scratch match against East Perth on February the 19th and hope to see you all there.
